Raised in the northern New South Wales town of Grafton, Warren Mundine is a Bundjalum man known for his strident pursuit of indigenous rights, and his broad and varied contribution to Australian society.

He was the first Indigenous president of the Australian Labor Party, and has led many key indigenous groups, including the Federal Government’s Indigenous Advisory Council.

The year that made him was 1982.
