Former Hollyoaks actress Sophie Austin has teased whether Gloved Hand Killer Lindsey Roscoe could return to the soap in a plot twist.
Sophie, who played killer Lindsey, formerly Lindsey Butterfield, for three years until 2016 when she was killed by Silas Blissett, has been pretty busy since her time on the Channel 4 soap.
The actress welcomed daughter Willow in 2016 with partner, and Coronation Street star, Shayne Ward.
Since then, and even ahead of the birth of her first child, Sophie has popped up in a number of top TV shows including Call The Midwife and Tina and Bobby.
Speaking exclusively to OK! Online, Sophie revealed what she has been up to since playing killer Lindsey – while teasing whether the character could come back from the dead.
Sophie, who recently defended soaps over claims storylines were “too dark”, also revealed to us what she had in the pipeline for 2018.
Loui Batley’s Sarah Barnes was a Hollyoaks fan favourite before leaving our screens in 2009 – since the show Loui has gone on to become a member of a pop-singing duo Verity and Violet
She revealed: “I had a baby! I’ve been quite busy, I’ve been lucky with a good agent. When I finished Hollyoaks I did Casualty, and then onto Tina and Bobby – and then I had Willow in December 2016.
“After Willow was born I did Moving On and Call The Midwife, and then I finished off last year by filming for Channel 4, but I can’t say much on that. I’m involved in another project too which I can’t say much about – but I’ve been lucky and they’re all different characters to psycho Lindsey so it’s been nice!”
Sophie confessed leaving a soap could be “scary”, but luckily she’s been offered a number of roles since her exit whilst getting to spend plenty of time with 14-month-old daughter Willow in-between.
She told us: “I think I had about 4 months overall off having baby, and then I started working again! It was really important for me as an actor, and it was really nice that the places I was working with were so accommodating to Willow.
“I get to do a job and have a month off, and then do another, so I get the best of both. It’s really lovely. Mine and Shayne’s family get to have her too which they love. It’s knackering but it’s good.”
Sophie also shared her hopes to do more theatre work, while addressing whether Lindsey Roscoe could make a surprise return to the village in the future.
She said: “I’d never say never. I don’t know how they would bring her back. I love the show’s producer Bryan Kirkwood and it’s a great place to work, and I got to do so much in 3 years which is phenomenal.
“I think it’d be interesting to see what Lindsey would do! It might turn out it’s not really her! If the right storyline came up then I’d never say never.”
