Police are asking the public’s help in finding a man wanted for the attempted rape of a Queens woman early Wednesday morning.

The 40-year-old victim was walking near 66 Street and Forest Avenue in Ridgewood just before 2am, when the attacker approached her and engaged her in conversation.The man suddenly forced the unsuspecting woman into the vestibule of a building and punched her in the face before attempting to remove her sweatshirt and pull down her shorts, police said.

The attacker fled when an individual inside the building scared him off.

The man is described as Middle Eastern, 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-6 inches tall, with black hair, brown eyes and a dark beard. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white short-sleeved shirt and black sneakers.
