Dennis Wise has defended his controversial argument with Iain Lee, after he was the sixth celebrity to be eliminated from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
Following in the footsteps of Shappi Khorsandi, Kezia Dugdale, Rebekah Vardy, Vanessa White and Stanley Johnson, the former footballer joined Ant and Dec to talk about his time on the ITV show.
When quizzed about his relationship with Iain in his exit interview, Dennis explained why he had clashed with the comedian.
Revealing why he didn’t want him to do a trial, he added: “You can only look at people and be like oh, how will they be? But once they’ve done the first trial you’re not worried about them.
“Once they come back and say ‘oh I couldn’t do it’, and they say it twice, you start thinking…ooh, we need to eat guys.”
Dennis went on to explain that he changed his mind following his argument with Iain, and wanted him to take part in a Bushtucker Trial the following day.

He continued: “I realised that there’s people on there who want to promote themselves and want to go on TV and go on other things.
“There’s Iain, there’s Jamie, there’s Jennie, and there’s Toff. When it came to yesterday and I listened to Iain’s letter, and then I listened to Jamie’s, I realised then, and I thought, Iain, you go and do that trial.”
As well as discussing Iain Lee, Ant and Dec also addressed the lighter topic of Dennis’s height.
Ant made the 50-year-old stand back to back with Dec, following the presenter’s “very small man” gags throughout the series.
Ant said: “Now before we sit down, we’ve had a long running debate in the studio because somebody thinks they’re taller than you.”
When it was revealed that Dennis was taller, Ant screamed with excitement, and added: “Dennis, you’ve made my night!”
