President Trump vowed to make American schools safer by tackling the issue of mental health following a mass school shooting in Florida.
The President addressed the nation Thursday morning, one day after 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz allegedly slaughtered 17 people at his old high school in Parkland, Florida. Trump described the scene as hatred and evil before announcing plans to meet with officials to making schools safer a top priority.
Trump tweeted just after midnight, “So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed.” But almost exactly one year to the date, Trump signed a bill revoking gun checks for people with mental illness.
The President said he plans to visit Parkland to meet with families of the victims soon.
As we reported … Cruz was taken to jail early this morning wearing a hospital gown. Cops say Cruz used an AR-15 assault rifle to carry out the murders.
