A passenger on a flight out of Newark took advantage of turbulence to grope a woman sitting beside him, according to a new report.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police received a report that a 73-year-old man had allegedly sexually assaulted his seatmate on a United flight to Charlotte Tuesday night — and handed the case over to the FBI.
Passengers on the flight said a woman in her 30s reported the creep grabbed her between her legs, Channel 9 reported.
He blamed it on the turbulence — saying the shaking plane had caused his hand to fall in her lap.
“I’m sure a woman knows the difference between a hand hitting her versus being groped,” traveler Sherrell Ealy said.
Flight attendants separated the passengers and police escorted the man off the plane after landing.
United Airlines said they were working closely with authorities on the investigation Thursday.
“The safety of our customers is our top priority,” they said in a statement.
The FBI confirmed they were investigating and that no arrests had been made.
