Qld politicians stand united on Shoalwater-NewsCO

January 30, 2017

Both sides of Queensland politics have called on the prime minister to help landowners affected by the proposed expansion of the defence training facility at Shoalwater near Rockhampton.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is planning to acquire several thousand hectares of land to expand the central Queensland facility as part of a joint training initiative with Singapore.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says the federal government has “turned its back” on local families while opposition leader Tim Nicholls says Malcolm Turnbull needs to step in to consult between the local landowners and the ADF.
