The X Factor boss Simon Cowell has never been afraid to say what he thinks and his latest critique on Sam Black was no different as he called out the hopeful for his ”horrible” song choice – which happens to be a much loved Little Mix track.
Turning to Louis Walsh, who chose Little Mix’s Oops to be performed, the music mogul went on to compare the rendition to a poor dinner course, calling Sam out for his tones.
Eyes on Louis and Sam, Simon said: “That was what I call a prawn cocktail.’’
“It’s not a starter or dessert, it’s the little thing you have before the main thing.”
Simon then added: “It was a horrible song choice.”
In an attempt to quip back at the scathing remarks Louis noted that the song was by in fact by the girl group who are former X Factor winners – and managed by Simon
Holly Tandy and Sean Price share a playful snap from the X Factor house as their friendship continues to blossom
Nicole Scherzinger chimed in to get her voice heard and agreed with Simon: “It was pitchy and out of time. It was your worst performance throughout this series.”
Little Mix fans were quick to catch wind of the comments and claim Simon was throwing shade at the group despite their connection.
One continued: ”The horrible song choice’ little mix are on your label aren’t they Simon #XFactor.”
”SIMON JUST CALLED LITTLE MIX A BAD SONG CHOICE IM SCREAMING RIGHT NOW #xfactor”, added another.
A third raged: ”My face when Simon said that Sam had a bad song choice.”
”Despite the fact that’s a little mix song and they’re from his label #XFactor.”
Taking the quip more lightly a fan joked: ”Lmaooo did Simon just diss little mix #XFactor.”
The X Factor continues on ITV1 tomorrow at 7.30pm
