President Trump blasted outgoing GOP Sen. Jeff Flake who was caught on a hot mic saying Republicans “are toast” if they become the party of Trump and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.
“Sen. Jeff Flake(y), who is unelectable in the Great State of Arizona (quit race, anemic polls) was caught (purposely) on “mike” saying bad things about your favorite President. He’ll be a NO on tax cuts because his political career anyway is “toast,” Trump posted on Twitter Sunday evening.
Flake, who announced he would not seek another term during a speech on the Senate floor last month, made the comments after a town hall event in Mesa, Ariz., on Friday when Mayor John Giles asked the Republican lawmaker if he had any White House ambitions in 2020.
A constant and vocal critic of Trump, Flake said the president ‘s behavior is “dangerous for democracy.”
Remarking on Roy Moore, the Republican senate candidate who has been accused by nine women of sexual misconduct, Flake said he would “run to the polling place to vote for the Democrat” if he lived in Alabama.
