December 20, 2017

One person was found dead inside a burned Queens home Tuesday night, according to police and fire department officials.

The unidentified 52-year old man was found dead inside a 2-story private home for a fire call at 188-60 120th Road in South Jamaica Queens shortly after 7pm, according to officials.

Firefighters forced entry to the building where, upon arrival, they encountered fire on the second floor.

“After the fire was extinguished we determined there was one fatality,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Bob Sputh from the scene.

Neighbor Diana Murgoci called 911 when she saw smoke.

“I was like ‘Oh my God, let me call the cops,’ and I did… [the fire department] were here very quick, maybe three minutes… I didn’t know someone was inside. I’m like in shock right now.”

Sources said a preliminary investigation showed no signs of foul play in the death, though there was no word on case of the fire. – #1 News in a FLASH
