– Lehmo to replace Whateley on ABC’s AFL radio programs

March 14, 2018

Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann has been announced as the new host of ABC radio’s football shows, beginning when the men’s AFL season gets under way in just over a week.

The ABC’s announcement comes after Gerard Whateley, who hosted ABC Grandstand for 13 years, left the broadcaster to join SEN in January this year.

Lehmann will host weekend AFL shows during the 2018 season, including an issues-based Saturday discussion show, co-hosted by commentator Angela Pippos, and a more laid-back Sunday with Emma Race, who co-hosts the all-women AFL show Outer Sanctum.

“I am delighted we have been able to bring together such a strong team for our weekend programs,” said Nick Morris, manager of ABC Sport.

Lehmann was previously the host of Melbourne breakfast show Jo and Lehmo for Gold FM, which was axed in November after two years, despite its high ratings. – #1 – All News First!
