–Clinical India thrash Australia by 26 runs in rain-truncated ODI series opener

September 17, 2017

New Delhi: India carried their brilliant form from the Sri Lanka tour by thrashing Australia by 26 runs in the rain-truncated ODI series opener at Chepauk on Sunday.

It was a sweet result for Virat Kohli & Co for more than couple of results, one being that of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s presence, the brilliance of Hardik Pandya as an upcoming all-rounder, and also the self belief that a seemingly young bowling line-up has shown.

India won the toss and batted first. But India witnessed a horrendous top-order collapse, including a duck for skipper Kohli. But Dhoni and Pandya revived the innings. Then rain came down.

The match was reduced to 21 overs due to rain with Aussies chasing a 164-run target. But Indian bowlers made sure that the visitors get only the walking orders in front of a boisterous Chennai crowd.( Scorecard )
