Six foreign nationals were nabbed for suspected links to the Daesh terrorist organization in central Turkey yesterday. Among them were two Iraqis and a Syrian who were rounded up in simultaneous anti-terror operations launched across the city of Kayseri. Muhammed Isa Al G., Ismail Muhammed Ali I. and Abdurahman Ahmed S. were accused of cooperating with the Daesh terror group.

Separately, three more Iraqi nationals were also apprehended on suspicion of Daesh links during simultaneous raids in the central province of Eskişehir. Security forces launched anti-terror operations on several suspects’ addresses in the city center as part of investigations of the terror group’s activities. More than 300 people have lost their lives in Daesh-claimed attacks in Turkey, where the terror organization has targeted civilians in suicide bomb, rocket, and gun attacks. Turkish security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to thwart Daesh attacks.

The country’s efforts against Daesh made it a primary target for the terrorist group. This includes the country’s deadliest terrorist attack, which killed 102 people and wounded 400 others in a twin suicide bombing at a peace rally in Ankara on Oct. 10, 2015.
